London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames

Making an impact for 250 sixth form students

Our work for London Borough of Richmond upon Thames has included the creation of a new three storey building at Orleans Park School to accommodate an additional 250 place sixth form as well as a new single storey building to form the main entrance to the school. The building was designed to meet the standard of a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

The school remained open during construction, entailing careful management of the project to ensure minimal impact on students’ lives. A Traffic Management Plan was employed to accommodate the needs of the school staff and students, the local community and road users since the school is situated on a busy road which leads into the centre of Twickenham.

The sixth form building was officially opened by naturalist Sir David Attenborough, who has lived in Richmond since 1952. It includes a learning resource centre, a new hall, media suites, an art studio and plays host to A-level biology, physics and chemistry.

Our delivery team made a big impact with staff and students throughout their time on site and even helped manage the school’s first firework display which attracted over 2,000 visitors and raised around £7,000 for much needed additional resources.
